Stephen Z. Fadem Update Professional Symposium- To support the professional education of Houston-area physicians, dietitians, social workers and nurses, the National Kidney Foundation of Southeast Texas hosts the annual Stephen Z. Fadem Update Professional Symposium. Under the guidance of event founder, Dr. Stephen Z. Fadem, the program attracts over 250 clinical professionals and administrators to the daylong symposium. Renowned speakers from across the country present a broad array of topics related to the management of patients with kidney disease, and address timely issues such as dialysis adequacy, Advance Directives and homocysteine metabolism in renal disease. In addition to offering the latest academic information from the renal community, the Update Professional Symposium provides an avenue for the acquisition of continuing education units for all clinical disciplines.

Southeast Texas Affiliate's Patient Symposium- The Patient Symposium is an interactive educational program for patients and their families aimed at improving the quality of life for people with kidney disease and providing information on issues relevant to their daily lives. The Southeast Texas Affiliate's Patient Symposium is the most well-attended of all the Patient Symposia held nationwide and recently expanded to include an all-day session for Spanish-speaking patients.
